For 18 months or so, I have focused on wetlands and rivers—including two versions of the Thames - the gritty brown swell of the river around Bermondsey and its tranquil greenness as it meanders through Richmond. Other areas include the London Wetlands near Barnes and the ecologically important nature reserve located on a sand spit - Dawlish Warren – part of the River Exe estuary. These paintings in acrylics, painted collage, and inks, consider the relationship of the river to its surroundings, edges and erosion and as always, I am aiming to capture my sense of experience and place within the space.
